Announcing the New
Voice of the People Chicago
Premiering July 1st, 2026
Transformational changes are in the works!
Under the leadership of our new Board President, Patricia “Pat” Tucker, the “mother of supportive housing,” we are excited to announce that Anna Miller, MSW, our Director of Programs, will take the helm as Executive Director on July 1. Michael Rohrbeck, Executive Director since 2018, will be channeling his energy anew as Director of Advocacy & Owner Services, while supporting Anna and the team through this exciting transition.
These changes coincide with our name change and coming out as Voice of the People Chicago. Voice has been broadening its focus for years, prioritizing preservation activities and pursuing service collaborations. We aim to serve as a resource center in support of affordable housing owners and their service providers and residents. This has already begun with networking, training and events where we share lessons with friends and allies citywide.

On July 1, additional staff and leadership transformation will take effect. Voice’s longest-running employee of 14 years, Pedro Morales, Jr., will begin duties as Chief Financial Officer, and Maggy Hovden, MSW, Resident Support Coach extraordinaire, will be promoted to Manager of Resident Opportunity Services. We’ll thank and tell the stories of impactful and legendary board members who are stepping down, but continuing as volunteers, while celebrating new and dynamic leaders joining as directors and “kitchen cabinet advisors.”
Through these changes, our motto remains:
Every Person Deserves a Chance
to Live in a Great Community !
About Executive Director, Anna Miller, MSW
In her three years at Voice, Anna Miller has doubled the size and impact of Voice’s resident case management services. She has overseen the expansion of community services and events, including Sweet Home Uptown, the Juneteenth Jubilee and Back 2 School Bash, where supporters and affordable housing residents connect to have fun and collaborate for a better Uptown and Chicago.
Anna has cultivated new partnerships, developed trust with advocacy and service agency peers, brought new levels of stabilizing services and financial assistance to tenants, and managed challenging property management transitions for Voice-owned properties. Early in her career, Anna spent time working alongside at-risk youth, teaching life skills and creative writing classes while also providing case management and support to women reentering their communities after incarceration in Kansas City.
After graduating with a Bachelors in Social Work from Creighton University, she spent time in AmeriCorps at Operation Breakthrough’s wraparound program as an Early Childhood Educator before completing her Masters in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. We have great faith in Anna’s leadership as she steps into her new role as our organization’s leader.
