Resident Opportunity Services

Resident Opportunity Services (“ROS”) is an extension of Voice of the People’s historical priorities at bringing low-income affordable housing residents together, focusing on leadership development, community engagement, and empowerment.  Within the Resident Opportunity Services program, Voice seeks to provide the residents of affordable housing with a collaborative space to gain connection to resources as a vehicle for gaining life skills, achieving self-sufficiency, engaging in civic and community problem solving, and accomplishing family goals through wealth building. ROS staff provides direct resource connections on an as-needed and voluntary basis with residents to make connections and referrals to social, cultural, educational, recreational, and economic opportunities.  The primary methodology for this is in coaching, organizing and resident support services.

Coaching Support – Coaching support is provided by ROS Resident Support Coaches to Voice residents that have completed or are not in need of Critical Case Management.  Residents voluntarily participate in coaching support work with their Resident Support Coach to achieve goals aimed at sustainability beyond survival.  Many residents work with Coaches to learn further about the home-buying process, positive budgeting habits, or enrolling in higher education.  Coaching Support is aimed at creating long-lasting skills through short-term engagement.
